Sanctuary Prayer Wall
Our Prayer Wall is open and available for anyone to use any time the building is open. All the materials needed and instructions are located in the four mini-desks built in to the wall. Feel free to take a moment from your day to add your prayer to the wall, and let it help you connect with God.
The design of the Prayer Wall reminds us of the Jerusalem Wailing Wall, an interfaith holy place of prayer for people from all over the world. The bricks are intentionally constructed in a variety of sizes and multiple shades of stain to reflect the beautiful diversity of the human family.
During the sermon on Sunday morning, September 11, 2011, all worshipers were asked to write a prayer on the small paper handed to them when they entered the Sanctuary. At the close of the service they were invited to walk forward, roll it up, and place it in a crevice between the bricks of our new, permanent Prayer Wall located on the East transept wall of our Sanctuary. In a matter of moments, tucked between the oak bricks were hundreds of brightly colored prayers.
The Prayer Wall, dedicated that day during worship, is a visual witness to the work of the Holy Spirit here at Westminster.
Children's Prayer Wall
Created from the wood scraps of our Sanctuary Prayer Wall, our Children’s Prayer Wall is located between Rooms 104 and 106, where our Children and Worship (Pre-K and K) and our Come and See (grades 1 and 2) classes meet during the second half of worship. Feel free to use it, regardless of how tall you may be.
